Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, eVitara, is launching in India on September 3, 2025. With a 61 kWh battery and 428 km range, it will rival MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv. Manufactured exclusively in India.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker by volume, is all set to enter the electric vehicle market with its first-ever EV — the eVitara. Officially slated to launch on September 3, 2025, the eVitara marks Suzuki’s global EV debut and will be manufactured exclusively in India.

A Global EV, Made in India

The eVitara is not just any launch — it’s Suzuki’s flagship electric SUV for the global market. Manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, the eVitara will also be exported to markets like Japan, the UK, and Europe, reinforcing India’s position as a global EV production hub.

Rivals and Market Positioning

Once launched, the eVitara will take on popular C-segment electric SUVs like the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE.06, and Hyundai Creta EV. Backed by Maruti’s wide dealership network, competitive pricing, and brand trust, eVitara is expected to disrupt this growing segment.

Premium Retail via Nexa

The eVitara will be sold exclusively through Nexa showrooms, indicating its premium positioning. A badge-engineered Toyota version, the Urban Cruiser EV, will also be manufactured alongside at the same plant.

Design & Styling

Visually, the eVitara carries a compact SUV appeal with rugged body cladding and 18-inch alloy wheels. Its charging port is located on the left front fender, and the SUV gets disc brakes on all four wheels. Rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar, adding to the clean design.

Interior & Features

Inside, the eVitara offers a tech-forward cabin with features like:

  • 2-spoke steering wheel
  • 10.1-inch infotainment system
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Dual-tone brown and black dashboard with soft-touch materials
  • Ventilated front seats with leatherette upholstery
  • Wireless charger, powered driver’s seat, and a floating centre console
  • Fixed glass roof, 360-degree camera
  • Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety

Powertrain and Range

The Maruti eVitara will be powered by a 61 kWh battery, offering a WLTP-certified range of 428 km. India is expected to get a single-motor variant, producing 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque, which should provide smooth and efficient urban driving.

What to Expect

Bookings for the eVitara are expected to open around launch, with deliveries following soon after. This SUV is expected to become a bestseller thanks to Maruti’s aggressive pricing strategy, reliability, and strong brand image.
